The US Navy’s G-1, made in real leather with a shearling collar that unsnaps when the weather turns. Knit cuffs and waistband, flap pockets, brown throughout. The same jacket naval aviators have worn since the 1940s, minus the squadron patches.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The G-1 has one of the longest service records of any jacket in America. It starts with the Navy’s M-422 in 1940, chocolate brown goatskin with a mouton collar, a bi-swing back cut for reaching across a cockpit, and a rayon lining. The name people use today came later. The first jacket to actually carry “G-1 Flight Jacket” on its label was the 55-J-14 in 1949, and versions of the design have remained part of U.S. naval aviation ever since, apart from a brief pause in new issuance around 1979–1981.
There is a good story about how much pilots liked it. In 1979 the Navy stopped issuing the G-1 as a budget cut and handed out Nomex jackets instead. The complaints ran high enough that the Secretary of the Navy reversed the decision in early 1981. Seven years later Top Gun put it on every screen in the country and the G-1 walked out of the service and into shopping malls.
Ours keeps what makes the jacket work. Real leather with enough body to hold the shape, rib-knit cuffs and waistband that seal out wind at the wrist and hip, and two flap pockets sized for hands rather than for looks.
The removable collar is the part worth paying attention to. Snap it on and the jacket carries you through winter. Take it off and you have a clean leather bomber for fall, which is two jackets from one hanger.

Size Guide
Decormi Jacket
Size Guide
Every Decormi jacket is cut to body measurements, not garment measurements. Measure yourself with a soft tape, match the numbers below, and use the measuring notes further down if you are unsure where the tape should sit.

How to measure
Shoulders
Measure straight across your upper back, from the outer edge of one shoulder to the other. Stand tall with your shoulders relaxed — hunching adds up to an inch.
Chest / Bust
Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, under the arms and level all the way round. Keep it snug, not tight, and breathe normally with your arms at your sides.
Sleeve
Start at the tip of your shoulder and run the tape down the outside of your arm to the wrist bone. Keep the elbow slightly bent so the sleeve does not ride up when you move.
Waist
Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, roughly halfway between your lowest rib and your hip bone. Let the tape rest on the body without pulling it in.
Still between two sizes?
Leather softens and moulds to you with wear, so a jacket that feels close-fitting in the first week settles in. Pick the smaller size for a sharp, fitted look; go one size up if you plan to wear a hoodie or a jumper underneath. Send us your chest, shoulder and sleeve measurements and we will confirm the size before your order ships.
